It certainly has some nice looking art! Probably would be an easy hack to churn out while we wait on other things to get done ;)

Could've sworn I read Kirby's Super Star Stackers as a potential official localized title at some point, or did I make it up?

Kirby's Star Stacker for the original Gameboy was officially released in English, but the SNES remake called Kirby no KiraKira Kizzu was not:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kirby%27s_Star_Stacker

This was the last Kirby game released for the SNES in 1998 and was only released in Japan. The remake features a new story mode (which the Gameboy version lacked), along with better graphics and music. The gameplay is about the same though. By the way, I noticed that many different gaming and sprite resource sites offer the English font used in Kirby no KiraKira Kizzu. It's actually quite popular with some ROM hackers and fan game makers alike. I believe that Tomato from RHDN once said that he was working on this years ago, but never actually released anything. I could be wrong though, so don't quote me on that.

Since I played Super Shell Monsters Story I've been interested in Poyon No Dungeon Room 2, for the Game Boy Color. Seems like a really cool dungeon crawling-like game and seems to have nice music too.

In fact i tried to translate a few things myself (Absolute zero knowledge of japanese, so it was like solving puzzles more than translating) like the menu options and while I actually got around to translate them by mix-matching japanese characters and then trying to understand them by the sound they "produce" (Like for example, Hajime for Start, Tsuyosa for status, or Aitemu for Items, among others) but for some reason I don't seem to find the characters used for the ingame menus, lol.

It has all those hiragana and katakana characters several times through the rom, and I must be losing some somewhere.

I'll take a look when I have more time, just for fun, though.

Hey, I was wondering how much work you've put into Shiki Eiyuuden. I found it accidentally and been enjoying it somehow. It's the historical setting that I enjoy, but I don't understand japanese at all. Monster sprites look great, and 2-frame sprite animations in a 1995 title is really cute. It's cool to hear you've atleast taken a look into it, so how easy does it look?

It's in motion. I have the game prwtty much hacked.
I even fixed the slow town walking speed. If anyone has played the game, they will appreciate this fix.

Oh, phew! I was thinking of asking you this question a few times last year and this. But I wasn't exactly sure if you were working continually away at this game after your re-discovery of your old hack contents last year here!
I've collected the information before for the best links about this game as there is barely little information and even media contents about this game ANYWHERE on the W.W.W! But I've learnt from a few youtube videos showing snippets of this game's playthroughs showing that the enemies are brutal and would wipe you out within the 1st or 2nd encounter only! So have you ever considered the possibility of creating a separate little hack to reduce the enemies' hit counts in order to make the walkthrough that bit easier for any of us to enjoy the story and settings?

Spoiler! :

Yes I have considered it. I have to do a status hack just to get past the first area to do a bit of searching for text, etc.

Wow, Bongo`, that is awesome to hear.

By the way, I actually have the cart, so would you like to have scans of the manual? 30 pages of gobblegook and a nice map included. :geek:

I half agree with this. I certainly haven't finished the game, I've only progressed up near Ji and thereabouts. But so far, enemy balance has been tough but not impossible. The problem is that if you stray from the path you're supposed to go even a little, you'll meet high level enemies which will just murder you, and quite unfairly at that. It's certainly a frustrating design issue and a hack would have to pretty comprehensive.

Anyway, there's a hidden copper sword at Hangu Pass near Luoyang (first big town) which sells for a nice 2500g that should make the beginning, before you get the 3rd party member Jing Ke, a little easier.

http://www7.big.or.jp/~sosan/games/shikieiyuuden.html This is a japanese walkthrough I've tried to follow. It also links to a cheat site with some gameshark codes. I also came across one chinese walkthrough, but can't seem to find it anymore.
