Well, I do know the SFC RPG Shiki Eiyuuden makes you solve a few mind puzzles right at the start of the game. :P
You have a flattened Rubik's Cube to solve, then a don't-take-the-last-stone game (sadly a bit more challenging than ToP's) and then a slide puzzle game (I pretty much just slide around randomly on those until I get lucky).

Are we talking solitaire mahjong or competitive mahjong? The one that's like poker where you play against other people has always been kind of interesting but I normally play it just long enough to kind of get it, then I don't play for like 5 or 10 years and forget everything. :P Also I think the video and real versions are two very different experiences, similar to video poker vs. playing poker with your friends.

As for other puzzle games, I still say that Fear Effect 2 counts as a puzzle game (along the lines of Professor Layton) and it's great. I also played a decent amount of Hexic. Somewhat frustrating but fun.

The Devil takes notes from Lina Inverse? That sounds about right.

Heh I quite like Professor Layton myself, but its a bit of a liability as it has a tendency to fry my brain on some puzzles due to large brainstorm times.

Been playing Braid the past few days since getting the "Humble Indie Bundle". This game is beautifully artsy, and can get tricky as hell if you are trying to solve all the puzzles. It's a good one!

My favorite ones are Tetris Attack and Kirby No Kira Kira Kids. Can't stop to play those gems again and again!

I went for puzzle bobble and tetris. I couldn't choose between the two, but those are the usual puzzle games I play. Speaking of tetris, there's a neat two player one for the SNES that even has a story mode:

It's amazing that it hasn't been translated yet as it's quite good and has a very small Japanese script for a game. Maybe once the current project page clears up a bit, we could consider adding this as a possible future project.
