Hello! I have been a long-time visitor to this site, but only registered today. First, congratulations on your release of Xak, it looks like a fun game. I found the translation story on Xak interesting (Japanese to French to English).

I fired up the patched game and, as I usually do, let the intro run through...that's when I noticed an orthographical error (I suppose most people call them typographical errors, but that's a little different from a spelling error). Anyway, the intro begins, "The eternal ice wall...". Next screen, "Remained an impassible barrier...". I believe that's supposed to read "impassAble" ((capitalized letter to indicate change) see attached pic).

I've only played a little of the game so far, but everything else looks great. Thanks for another great little gem translated into English!

PS: Btw, I hope you don't misinterpret my post...this post isn't a "Oh No...there's a TYPO! Fix it NOW!" type of post, but a "I think you might have missed this...fix it if you want" post. That's usually why I refrain from posting, as a whole, on the internet: too many pinheads jumping to conclusions. Anyway, I've lurked anonymously on the forum for a while, so I know most people at D-D don't fall into that category :)

PPSS: Sorry if I hijacked this thread...I wasn't sure if I should start a new thread or just post here.

You're welcome, and I'll be sure to post again if I find anything else. It's back to the game for me, then, and happy holidays/new year to everyone!

LMAO! okay, Something that is impassable is impossible to pass, cross, or overcome. Impassible originally had a different definition—namely, not subject to suffering, pain, or harm—but today it is rarely used in that sense and is commonly used in place of impassable. SO the word is used, i think it depends on the context of the game's story at that point or whatever the point was it was trying to make in the intro.. just loaded the intro up.. indeed 'IMPASSABLE' would be the correct word to use there, as it's talking about a great wall that is impassable.

GOD KNOWS how I missed that one :/ being on the beta team and what not, probably cos I was building the game's sanctuary page at the same time.. LOL! Any hows, gratz guys on finally getting this english release out to the public, it was a pleasure to work on the beta team for it.

SylarDean: Yeah, I was aware of the other definition (I actually looked it up prior to posting...there's few things I dislike more than someone who's trying to correct another, when they themselves are wrong). Based on the context (wall of ice), it seemed "impassable" was a better fit.

Also, no worries if you missed it when you tested it. We're only human, after all, and, on a project this big, it's only normal that some errors make it through...that's where extra pairs of eyes come in :)

That aside, I was going to start a new thread, seeing that I found another minor mistake, but since I'm already making this post, I'll just post it here. In Fearless Town, at the Weapons Shop, Oldman Doug says the following: "Sorry, but I can't in good conscience sell that too you when your level isn't high enough." It should read, "Sorry, but I can't in good conscience sell that TO you when your level isn't high enough." (Capitalization added to indicate part needing change, also, see attached pic). On that note, the shop owner's name...Oldman Doug. Should Oldman be hyphenated, or separated by a space? Like this, Old-man, or Old man, instead of Oldman. Unless Oldman is part of his name, which is not likely. Maybe that's just me nit-picking, though...it does, however, jump out at the player. You guys can decide whether to change it or not, I'm just noting things as I play :)

PS: Btw, I usually attach a small screenshot to better illustrate what I'm referring to. If you'd rather I didn't attach any screenshots, let me know (I did re-size them down, just in case).

Well, I can't speak for this particular case, as I wasn't involved with Xak but Oldman while uncommon is a name that is around in English speaking countries. It isn't the first time I've heard it as a proper name. And I wouldn't be surprised if this were the case. Although, again, I have no idea in this particular case.

Oh, I'm aware that Oldman CAN be a proper name, though uncommon. What I was referring to when I said it's not likely part of his name, was the actual Japanese (see attached pic., which shows his name as something-oyaji...oyaji, roughly translated, can be "old man" or "father"). I can only read hiragana, so I have no idea what the katakana part of his name is. I should have explained what I meant a little better, sorry. Again, not that big a deal, and I'll let you all decide whether it needs changing or not.
