I'd just like to resurrect this post and add a little to it.

I'm not 100% sold on the translation we have for this line: 目覚めよと呼ぶ声が聴こえ
So far the possible candidates are:

1. Hear the voice calling, "Awaken!"
2. An awakening voice beckons!

I'm very open to other possibilities even if they are aren't 100% in-line with the literal Japanese. I'm trying to arrive at something that is catchy, but not as overly wordy as the Japanese. I believe the context for the test is
Spoiler! :
in regards to when the player "wakes up" or recovers memories of the past after suffering some form of amnesia from the year 1999 to 2009. Something caused him to remember, but we are not sure exactly why/what

In addition to this, there is another line of "pre-game" text that we didn't get properly translated, and it is:

 一九九九の年の七の月
空から恐怖の大王が降りた

Something like:

July 1999
The great king of terror descended from the sky/heavens

Thanks in advance everyone!

A literal shortened version might be "Heed the call to Awaken".

But I think you need to ask yourself more about what's missing from that sentence. We know the actions taking place, but what are we wake up from? What are we waking up to? Who is calling out to us?

Perhaps we are waking up from a nightmare, the Matrix, fantasy or dream. Or we waking up to face our destiny or face great evil? Maybe destiny is the one telling us to wake up.

- Wake up from the nightmare
- Wake and face your destiny!
- Pull the wool from your eyes (butchering that metaphor)
- Heed destiny's call!
- Awaken your memories

Thanks gerb!

I like your ideas a lot, and they've even given me some more of my own:

The call to awaken
Answering the call to awaken

A little more on context and double meaning...
Spoiler! :
As I wrote earlier, the main character literally awakens to find himself in the future, but also in the game there is a power with the party that is pretty much the same as Reiki that is "awakened" early on and as you progress. In addition, the game also has more spiritual revelations/awakenings about the origins of God/etc.. So spoilerific that I don't even want to put it in spoiler tags!

The power of destiny (or whatever works better) bids you to wake!

In response to Bongo`s post in the other thread, I'll give my thoughts on this.

From what Draken and I have discussed about what happens to the main character at the beginning of the game, and the further "awakenings" the main character undergoes due to the cosmo stones, (not to mention the truths revealed as the game progresses), awaken seems like an important element of the subtitle.

We can stick with it as an object:
I'm fairly fond of the suggestions, "G.O.D - Heed the call to Awaken", and "G.O.D - The call to Awaken"

The other option is to use it as a verb and apply it to something:

awake(n) from something
awake(n) someone from something
awake(n) someone to something
awake(n) to something

As it is now, my vote is for "G.O.D - Heed the call to Awaken". I think it sounds better than anything previous and it is in keeping with the original meaning.

"G.O.D - Heed the call to Awaken" sounds good to me. I just wish we could get the other, more easily accessible content settled. That way we can bother the hell out of TF. :)

Of course we could always go the Pantera route and use "Beckon the call". https://www.google.com/search?q=pantera ... 8&oe=utf-8

Sounds like the consensus is "God - Heed the Call to Awaken"

Now, as per the other bit that seems to have gone unnoticed... Any thoughts on:

 一九九九の年の七の月
空から恐怖の大王が降りた

Something like:

July 1999
The great king of terror descended from the sky/heavens

I think you can word it as you'd like. I'd probably write it as:

On the seventh month of the 1,999th year the
great king of terror came down from the heavens
