Bummer, I usually like to have 1 or 2 save state files, especially as a means to test things out and see what they do or when I can not find a save and need to stop playing ASAP. How are in game saves? Are there frequent opportunities to save?

It takes time. And they're also very busy outside this hobby, like anybody else. There's only so much time in the world, after all.

This is the last thing most translators want to see. They do this for fun, it is not a job and they have lifes outside of this hobby.

Take your time guys! Hope life is okay for all of you.

Thanks for the kind words. Unfortunately, because our group consisting of mostly older individuals at this point, there is much going on in our lives outside of hobbies that has left us little time to work on any projects for most of this year. Of course, this differs with each individual in the group but unfortunately, overall this is the case. We haven't abandoned ship, not that we're planning to. However, if or when we did make that decision, you can rest assured we'd release anything and everything in a remotely playable state and offer up the resources for others to pick up and continue. No news may not be good news, but it also isn't bad news :)

If you are looking for someone who will test the beta with 100% exploring, call me. I played 1 and dream about 2 a long time ago

Kinda sad that Bongo retired. The translation you guys put out are great. I still hope that SSMSII also gets a release.

It almost definitely will. It might have minor bugs or graphics left in Japanese but the hacking was pretty much done before Bongo` left. Pretty much a matter of when not if. Although, this is up to Wildbill to decide it is ready. I'm not involved in the project.
