IMO it is only natural that the trickle of releases slows down over time, as there are fewer and fewer titles left. Of course, there are still lots of baseball games on the list (30-40 or so...?), but I guess there are more interesting projects which could be tackled. Honestly, there aren't that many interesting Famicom games left untranslated... maybe some quirky RPGs like Otaku no Seiza or Ganbare Goemon Gaidens. Still, everyone can choose to translate whatever he or she wants. :)

This is a natural assumption, one I've harbored myself, but one that appears to be incorrect. I tallied up the English translation patches released over the past 15 years a while ago and surprisingly last year was the most on record.

I also assumed the number of titles for NES and SNES, the most worked on systems, must be drying up at this point, but there are still SO many games out there to be translated. Way more than I'd anticipated.

I can't speak to the quality, but if the several recent translation projects we did on a lark are any indication (Galaxy Robo, Zenki Battle Raiden, and OB Golf), there are still a lot of quality titles out there that deserve being translated.

The Devil takes notes from Lina Inverse? That sounds about right.

Ah, Garrett, I didn't know that you're a part of Stardust Crusaders. That's a lovely name.

That's sweet! I can only imagine what it'd be like if many of these NES romhackers would suddenly migrate over to the SNES romhacking field. That'd speed up the translations heaps! I know of at least two SNES super-fans here that would be very happy about that!

Are they the non-RPG games from Implicid's suggested non-RPG category?

Traverse Starlight & Prairie is already off my list. :)

That's one of those gems I translated like AGES ago before LT vanished, so it's still waiting for its time in terms of hacking. The script was immense. And yeah, we've been talking about SNES, no, I haven't dropped the thing you've sent me and I still have some plans for PCE :)

We just discussed about that Traverse game and its Soul & Sword prequel with good info and links at another forum thread here, the translation lists.
Can't wait to see your plans for the PCE platform. I'd been yearning for any new translation works for anything for the PC Engine CD and SegaCD platforms from the Datacrystal lists as these are really technically awesome but under represented consoles!
Is there any good debugger for these systems that could help aspiring romhackers? Can Mednafen debug the PCE CD system?

No CDs for now. And Mednafen is the only emu good enough for me to debug PCE. As for Sega CD - it's too evil for me.

Hey, I didn't realize that. You learn something new every day it seems. >.> I believe there are more or less 300 untranslated Famicom titles (not sure about SFamicom), majority of which being, however, nearly identical baseball games, board games, some weird minigame collections etc., so they're perhaps not that appealing to work on. Regardless of that, it's amazing how much progress has been made since 1999/2000 more or less. :)

Congrats on the project. You all love that NES, don't you!? :) C'mon over to
the Snes world and help us out. :) A ton of games remain to be translated and
I'm sure you all are very capable! :)

I just did an online backup of all my translations and realized "holy ..., I got a lot of unfinished stuff." including multiple SNES games.

And what are you waiting for!? :) Which Snes games do you have? I have two UNANNOUNCED

Heheh. When I saw LT, I thought of LordTech. No sure what happened to that guy.
He told me that he had a twin brother...Wasn't sure if he was pulling my leg or not.

Lost Templair :) He's out there but too busy I guess, so give me a call if you decide to get back to Traverse - I have the text done :) BTW, there's a prequel to Traverse with about the same system. Soul & Sword is the title.

Hehe. I saw that game a while ago. Now that I think about it, those two do seem quite similar.
