Not too long as it only took me about a day to beat it. Currently in the process of making minor edits to the script, which should be done before the 31st. Hacking pretty much finished and script completely inserted.

I recently found out that the very old translation patch for this game never translated a secret message, so I figured I'd start my own translation for it. What little text there is has been retranslated and I'm currently creating my insertion files. Hope to finish this by the 31st for release. Overall, the previous translation for this game feels a like truncated to me, but it's really not that important in the grand scheme of things. Contra isn't a story-driven game. Incidently, this project is kind of like Twinbee 3.

Captain Silver- This game is just terrible, but it might not be the actual game's fault, just the people who ported it to the NES. Incidently, whoever coded (or ported the code) this game did a terrible job. It's the dumbest stuff I've ever seen.

The official translation looks pretty faithful, but they removed the bad ending you had the option of getting. Awaiting on translation of the script and need to hack that scrolling intro, which will probably be a pain in the ass.
