Just started playing Sakura Wars: So Long, My Love for PS2. This game is very different from what I was expecting, much more focus on dating sim than combats. But still a very funny game. TF'll probably hate this one, 'cause the story is very cliche.

And I'm still playing Pokemon Ranger: Shadows of Almia, just got to Almia Castle.

I already played Sakura Wars: So Long My Love. It was an OK game but yeah that was a strange way to do combat. Play dating sim. Boss fight. Play dating sim. Boss fight. Nothing in between. I know what to expect going in though. So the cliche story didn't bother me. It was just like any other Sakura Wars. I still think they should have brought over the earlier ones instead though. The characters were more interesting in some of them. At least we finally got one of the set.

Trinity Universe is better than Cross Edge, mostly because the battle system isn't terrible, and yet still a disaster of an idea none the less. Couldn't someone plan a crossover that actually has a story that looks like more than a kindergarten student's failing grade.

I tried these on their respective emulators some time ago. They look nice but they couldn't keep my attention span for too long. I hope you have fun though, and hopefully better impressions than me.

I'm sure you probably know this, but Evolution Worlds on gamecube is just a remake of 1 and 2 combined into a single package.

Do not play the dreamcast versions if you plan to play the gamecube versions. It does have expanded content not on the dreamcast versions. Just play the gamecube one instead.

Now Evolution 1 was a pretty entertaining game. But (like with most series) the sequel just couldn't cut it and was mind numbingly bad. Just my 2 cents. Seriously STOP NOW and change to the gamecube version. (Or don't but don't say you aren't warned)

I've decided to start a full marathon of this particular series, so now I'm playing first Evolution on Dreamcast (started about half a day ago - so far it's veeery good, this game probably uses the same engine as Skies of Arcadia).

After I finish playing first Evolution, I'll play the Neo-Geo Pocket Color version and after I finish that one, it's Evolution 2 time. The Gamecube's "Evolutia" will be the last one to finish in my marathon.

That post reminded me about my "adventure with Chankast" something like 6 to 7 years ago. I really tried to play Skies of Arcadia in it, but Chankast was so bugged that I gave up at the end of first CD(I guess ...)

Chankast is seriously bugged even now. If anything, you should use NullDC to emulate the Dreamcast. SOA does have a few glitches in it but its rather playable.
I couldn't say about Makaron though. I also tried the Naomi board version of NullDC and I could run Guilty Gear XX quite perfectly.

Yeah I figure you are better off with real hardware in this case.
As for NullDC versions, I suppose depending on the focus of each build
results can be different between versions.

There's a newwer version of NullDC(1.0.4 - r50), but I didn't test it yet.

Finished Pokemon Ranger: Shadows of Almia. It's better than the first one, because it has much more possibilities, and you don't need to throw away your pokes whenever you go to another area.
About the difficulty, well, the captures are actually harder, but you can have 8 pokes with you at a time(1 permanent+7 temporary), and 8 pokes = 8 specials(since your permanent partner's special can be recharged inside battle, expect to use it more than once on longer battles, so even more than 8 !!!)
Seriously, specials make captures so much easyer. When fighting the last boss I used 3 specials(2 ampharos+1 pachirisu) and they took more than half of it's life, yeah, it was the last boss. So, if you just jump on the bosses without any plan you'll probably find it much harder, but if you take time to prepare for the fight you'll probably find it real easy.

And, I'm still playing Sakura Wars: So Long, My Love. I have to say that this game grew on me. Just finished chapter 4(Diana's chapter) and I'm starting to relate more and more to the characters.
