I believe that SMD/SG RPGs are quite often overlooked. There weren't that many of them in comparison with SNES of course, nevertheless there are quite a few decent titles there. My favs are probably Phantasy Star IV, Shining Force and Shining in the Darkness. Also, I've recently played through the Russian translation of Surging Aura, it is up there with the best RPGs on the system IMO (it's kinda surprising that the English translation was dropped/not finished though). One good thing about SMD/SG is that there aren't that many untranslated RPGs, and thus anyone can enjoy most of the RPG library for that console. :) Anyhow, feel free to pick your favourite titles. :)

Phantasy Star for Master System.

Phantasy Star 2 and 4.
All shining games.
Herzog Zwei
X-men ( Damn game reset beat me for weeks )
All for genesis

EDIT:
How can I forget Super Hylide, Sword of Vermilion and Fatal Labyrinth. The last two have 2 game cheats / secrets officially entered by my friend and I I believe. :)

Might and Magic (II): Gates to Another World was great back in the day. D&D: Warriors of the Eternal Sun was okay back then too. I have Uncharted Waters, and UW: New Horizons, but I haven't played either yet. They look pretty cool.

The Devil takes notes from Lina Inverse? That sounds about right.

Overall, not as many nor as good titles as on the SNES, but a few of them are still pretty good. My favorites are the following:

1. Shining Force 1 and 2.
2. Phantasy Star 2, 3 and 4.
3. Crusader of Centy.
4. Sorcerer's Kingdom.

1. Phantasy Star IV
2. Phantasy Star II
3. Warsong/Langrisser
4. Shining Force
5. Pier Solar
6. Sword of Vermillion
7. Phantasy Star III
8. Shining Force 2
9. Shining in the Darkness
10. Traysia

Shining Force 2 deserves to be higher up on the list but I never got to play it on original hardware. By the time it came out I had moved on to mainly my SNES at that point. Looking at snagging it from a retro game store along with a nice CIB copy of Shining Force 1. I also would add Wanderer's of Y's III but alas played it originally on the SNES.

Hey mates. Check out this new series overlook video on the Phantasy Star series, especially focusing on the first four instalments! The video link does have actual dubbed English captioning! :D

Of the ones I've played, I've enjoyed:

Beggar Prince
Faery Tale Adventure
Fatal Labyrinth
King's Bounty
Landstalker
Light Crusader
Shining in the Darkness
Sorcerer's Kingdom
Star Odyssey
Super Hydlide
Warrior of Rome II (more of an RTS)

Wasn't a fan of Traysia, Sword of Vermilion, Exile, or Legend of Wukong.

I started Phantasy Star II a year or two ago but didn't finish it. I need to get back to it, and get around to playing some of my other Genesis and Sega CD RPGs like Shining Force, Lunar, Beyond Oasis, and Pier Solar.
