Just saw this site linked over at RHDN.. http://www.gamereproductions.com
The guy has loaded patches onto cartridges and is selling them for a profit. I noticed a couple of our games up there (Mystic Ark and Lennus 2). What's funny is that in the youtube video for Lennus2 he has linked, the splash screen shows stating "patch not for sale" heh

Good ever-loving grief!! I could spew a few million words about now but am at a loss with so many implications.

He's got DoaE-II, Just Breed, and EB-0 on the NES side. Just Breed required a donor cart - Gemfire! No Feda or Slayers - yet...

Our hobby has always operated on an honor system. I would have no problem with the companies using our patches to produce retro-carts, but this? Even if the guy had a license from the companies, someone would need to coordinate with us regarding the intellectual property rights of the English scripts. I mean, shoot, a translator could play legal Japanese carts and write down interpretations of every single screen in a game. I don't know what to say. I hope something such as this doesn't ruin our not-for-profit hobby.

I checked it out. Unbelieveable... At least ask. Then again, why should he/she have to...

I was going to mention this around here. The guy's a douche bag and I doubt talking to him will change anything. You can give him a call though. I was able to find his home and cell numbers.

Hm this is downright revolting, but for some reason I'm not surprised, not considering how humans generally are.
I just hope when the badged guys cage his carcass, he doesn't somehow try to implicate us in his little "venture" to try
to get his seating apparatus out of the hot water.

Its a shame that some would commit such a grave disrespect to so many people;
The game original devs, ourselves and all the hoping end users of our patches that wait patiently to play
great games in english.

At the very least, the splash screen disclaimer should suffice to deign any affiliation between us
and this bozo. Talking won't do a thing I'm sure, nor I believe we should stop working hard to deliver
our projects because of men of such small stature...his just desserts will come to pass, and it will be
a bitter flan of jail time.

Bah, this is just down right low... Selling other people's work which was done as free fan work to make a cheap profit. I feel sorry for the poor saps that actually bought his/her cartridges (if there were any foolish enough to do so). And like Red Soul said, I just hope that D-D and the rest of the romhacking community won't have to suffer because of people like this. I thought that splash pages were supposed to stop people from trying to sell fan translated/hacked games. That's the whole point of them! But it seems like they don't anyways stop people... Hopefully, no one actually bought any, that would suck... This is supposed to be a free hobby like Wildbill said...

Looks like Byuu (Edit: Err.. D, not Byuu) had some luck... Check out RHDN's main page.

Editx2: Would you guys like me to send a letter on our behalf to the service provider? Hopefully we can get our projects removed... Though, perhaps it would be better if someone like WB sent the e-mail as he truly is the copyright holder to all patches (his name is on there somewhere, while mine is not. For me to swear to be the copyright holder would be a lie...). I'll prepare the e-mail for you WB if you're up to it.

I'm up for it. Just send it on my behalf or in my name representing the whole team.
