I e-mailed the legal team at the server and they blew me off. I'll e-mail them yet again Monday.

Actually, I just e-mailed them requesting that they take further action to force him to remove the material from his site.

Kind of hard to tell if it was removed or not since he was hacked now :)

Anyway, I got the same old form letter reply.

Haha!

"Website hacked by D-- at byuu.org"

I wonder if he actually did hack it though...? D was the first person who got the guy to remove his patch.

Be as it may, the content is unavaliable, I guess that's what counts really.
Hopefully this should set a righteous example for others who would try to profit from a hobby
based on sheer love for games.

Ditto. I started to jump into this fray, but so much is going on right now, I opted for production and announcements concerning sheer love for games. Thanks, TF, for dogging this copyright violator.

Might want to check the website again, there is some cryptic message about selling those SNES games again. Is he just buying old plastic shells and sticking new chips with the games on it?

I say we apply another round of pressure to the guy, before things get out of hand.

I wouldn't really worry about it too much as long as he doesn't put up your work again. His message is kind of vague and in all honesty if someone requested that he make a SNES game of yours, I don't think there's much you can do to stop it.

Its not just our work. A person with this kind of initiative threatens the whole fan translation community if left unchecked; This is a hobby, not a means for some smartass to make quick cash on.

I don't want to be a bearer of bad/sour news, but the same fellow has put back up all the SNES translations again. One thing to note, was that D was very effective in getting Der Langrisser removed and it has not been relisted. I suspect this is because of the creative common license he used for the release. I would recommend following D's route for past and future releases.
