How well do the Intel Core i3 processors compare to the Intel dual core 2 and the Athlons? I saw some deals with this chip in my price range and from what I understand it is slightly better than the dual cores. I'm also seeing Intel Pentiums on models that are usually a little more expensive than those previous 2 processors but I thought the Pentium processor was weaker.
So is this the order of strength i7 > i5 > i3 > Dual core 2 > Pentium? Not sure where the Athlon dual core would fit. This is so much more complex than it used to be
Btw, I was looking at this laptop and using the special for a printer.
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Toshiba+-+S ... Id=1443308On the Toshiba now... That is indeed a deep discount for the features. If TF vouches for the CPU, I'd say grab it if the taxes don't chase you off. You might want to read the reviews on a similar Toshiba unit at Amazon. Most really bad reviews can be taken with a grain of salt, but the part about fingerprints on the body sort of caught my attention. I have a Dell that gets all "fingerprinty"! I fuss about it some, but it's really no big deal. As for reviews, you'll always hear someone say they'll never buy another Dell, Toshiba, Compaq, etc. You generally never hear that about an HP. As for me, I'll never buy another Asus laptop (not to be confused with an Acer laptop) Finally, about the only big difference I can tell between the BestBuy Toshiba unit and the similar Amazon Toshiba unit is the 500 GB HDD.
