I recently wrote an article for HG101 about the game. I hope it will get a little bit more recognition in the hacking scene once it gets released this way. Would like to do one for Bounty Sword by the same dev team too, but I never played the Playstation sequel and port so I don't have the knowledge to write one...

That's great! That's exactly the reason I am doing this. :)

The gameplay is not exactly intuitive and it's a tad too hard at the beginning, but once you get the hang of it, it's pretty good. (Especially if you keep in mind that it was one of the first of its kind!)
Also, awesome graphics and soundtrack!

Bummer: It was planned to be trilogy, but the developer went bankrupt before he could release the last part. Each "Chapter" is pretty much closed in itself as far as I know though.

Really?! well that's a shame, tho at least we got the port & sequel before it happened i guess. I was thinking of getting the PlayStation 1 version but i'm unsure how it is compared to the Super Famicom version.

I updated the first post with what I thought was a great review about Ihatovo Monogatari and the back story behind the game in general. It was very informative and a good read for all those curious. Also added pictures and made the requests a little more like they should be.

That's really cool you posted these. These games were actually on my list along with Famicom Bunko: Hajimari no Mori. I still have several more to go. :)

Oh really? :D that's was another game I'd enjoyed on the Super Famicom/SNES9X emulator! Btw how is it possible to hack/translate Shin Onigashima since every text is nearly vertical?

That is a good question and one I'm not smart enough to answer. I don't think it to be impossible though. Look at what Bongo did for ONI. It would just take the right person with the right skill who has a love for these kind of games.
