In general, you game players should help each other all you can and are willing to do. The only fine line I want you to consider here is to avoid using our site in a way that suggests we are a mass ROM distributor of the games we translate. Therefore, a selective link here and there that stays active for a short time and is intended to assist a specific individual - I can live with that occasionally. The best way, however, is to hook up with each other privately and share your "resources" privately.

Uh....you could just say "Using PM for posting side links is alright, using forum's threads is not" or "Use Instant Messengers like ICQ/QIP outside forum, please". %)))))))))))))))

Well, anyway - the issue is resolved, I guess?
Yes, if we can avoid it, we just don't want to draw undue attention to the site by posting more than an infrequent direct link to a ROM or patched ROM. All of you game lovers are resourceful. You'll figure out clever ways to share with the world, same as in Ma Rossiya!

I've read this thread and similar ones and still can't quite figure out how to fix the problem, although I'm sure it's the same one. Must be that I'm just not that quick with this kind of stuff. I downloaded NSRT for OS X and used it to scan the rom after I applied the patch... I'll paste the results below. It says there's no header, which seems strange to me... Thanks, and thanks to all who worked to create the patch! I'm excited to play just as soon as I get it working!

Thanks for the help. I'll keep searching for a ROM that works, although I've tried about eight so far. Actually, nearly all of them, including the one above, say

Header: SWC

when I scan them before patching. Then after patching, with UIPS, I get the bad message.

Huh. Well, I didn't find a ROM that worked, but eventually I found a pre-patched version available for download that works in BSNES. I'd still be curious to figure out how to fix the problem, though, after spending several hours getting no where...

I'm a mac user, but I do all my hacking/testing on my windows partition. I do remember trying to get NSRT to work about a year ago, and failing miserably... Then, I switched over to my windows partition and got everything taken care of with that oldie Snestool in under a minute. Sometimes, I REALLY wish that there were better tools available for us mac users.

I believe there is a suite of patching tools called Ninja patcher that is also avaliable for Mac
( http://www.romhacking.net/utils/329/ ). Hopefully this should aid users of OSes other than Windows.

Um, doesn't WINE allow you to run the windows tools on your mac?

Sorry in advance for postin in an old thread but its completely related
I have the same set up as the first post, I have ucon64 and uf-fox (the gui fer it), and im not new to roms just patching
-now that thats out of the way, Im trying to patch some snes roms but when ever I do they don't work with snes9x
I used the fix checksum tab and tried the new outputed file but still snes9x loads flashes some color then finishes to a black screen

is there something Im missing?
how do I get this (patched rom)
Checksum: Bad, 0xc019 (calculated) != 0x7c85 (internal)
Inverse checksum: Bad, 0x3fe6 (calculated) != 0x7c85 (internal)
Checksum (CRC32): 0xd796a0a5

to look more like this (original rom)
Checksum: Ok, 0xa0da (calculated) == 0xa0da (internal)
Inverse checksum: Ok, 0x5f25 (calculated) == 0x5f25 (internal)
Checksum (CRC32): 0xb19ed489
--------
and this is what it looks like when "fix checksum"
Checksum: Ok, 0xc015 (calculated) == 0xc015 (internal)
Inverse checksum: Ok, 0x3fea (calculated) == 0x3fea (internal)
Checksum (CRC32): 0xf6877b49

and it still doesnt work. Like I said earlier, is there something else I need to do?

thanks in advance, and I can supply more info if necessary

Never mind I figured it out
for anyone who wants to know I had to add a header via nsrc (the app mentioned in the third post I believe)
without it, it wasnt writing the patch in the right place (thats the best i can explain it to people who, like me, wander here lookin fer help)
