I'm not sure, I don't have a crystal ball...working on it LOL.
Still, its just my personal take on the situation.

Ritchie didn't write the Slayers FAQ. Steven Bruck did.

@Master Chen: As I said, I needed to breeze through the game so I can see/check all of the text boxes in game & going through countless un-necessary random battles only slows that down.

Also, with RPGs I'm actually more in it for the story, so mindless level grinding is well... mindless in my opinion.

Call it cheating or cutting corners or simply me being weak, but let me quote my favorite Youtube Let's Player:
When you try to hinder the gamer's progress with mindless & useless obstacles, you're just "artificially" lengthening your game's lifespan & some people do not enjoy that.
That's why Earthbound was so innovative back then when it was launched. When you get strong enough enemies actually run away from you. Also, you can cancel battles by pressing buttons when a monster approaches & you're strong enough to face it/them in battle & still gain experience points.

Too bad not many RPG makers followed Earthbound's example :(

Personally I love the feeling of utterly destroying my enemies and I also like always having as much money and supplies as possible
so I hardly mind leveling at all. Only thing that bugs me in the whole process is when encounter rates are a bit too over the top
(if you played Black Sigil for the DS you''ll know what I mean...awesome game, but all too frequent random battles make it unnerving somewhat)

And even on the newer games, even though many newer game features have been developed to make battles more fun &/or challenging, there will come a time when you will get bored, tired or even fed up with them.

I'm not sure if the idea came from the NES game mother, but it wasn't the first time a similar idea was used in a game on the SNES. In Villgust for SNES, once you get so high in each area, random battles quit occuring all together and you can walk through them without a single battle event. Villgust SNES was 2 years before Earthbound in Japan. Again, I'm sure that Villgust wasn't even the first to use the idea. I'm sure some NES RPG (obscure or otherwise) used the idea at some point. Or maybe Genesis or TG16 or whatever.

The Nes DBZ RPGs used that somewhat. Battles become automatic once your PL is high enough.
I guess this fits the obscure pre-requisite at the very least.

I have addressed CRV10's reports. Once I receive noname345's final message, I will address it and release V1.01. This will probably be the ultimate closure of the SFC Slayers project with the fewest post-release errata corrections ever. Fine job Beta Team and Draken!

Here are the resolutions to CRV10's missives that weren't communicated earlier:

The first screen was an obvious fix. I felt the second string was stated in clear-enough English, but to remove all ambiguity I re-wrote it anyway.

I'm sorry to break it to you so
bluntly, but I'm afraid you are
indeed a copy of someone else.

So, that [bold]cretin[/bold] claims I wasn't
born. Instead, I was created
by this Valluham character.
I got that part.[pause-03] What I don't
understand is his remark about
being a chosen one...[pause-05] What was
that all about, Deeole!?
.ENDT
